Is it just me, or has it all become noise? Framing everything through the lens of AI or agents ends up obscuring the real functional needs that existed underneath.
It used to be that a concrete functional need would arise first, and then we'd design mechanisms, abstractions, and constraints to address it. Tools, AI or not, were chosen afterward as accelerants. Now, more and more often, "AI" or "agents" are declared upfront and everything else is retrofitted to justify that label. The original need becomes implicit, vague, or even lost in the process.
I'd go even further: over-framing with AI dissolves necessity into aesthetics.
